Food Recovery
In 2003, La Tablée des Chefs set up an innovative food recovery program with a double mission: contribute to the revalorization of food surplus and fight against food insecurity.
Feed the world, one donation at a time.
Through this program, La Tablée des Chefs acts as a liaison between surplus food donors and local community organizations, who are responsible for collecting the food donations and redistributing them to people in situations of food insecurity.
To date, more than 200 donor establishments participate and support the food recovery program across the country. These include several major sports stadiums, such as the Centre Bell in Montreal, Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Rogers Arena in Vancouver, and Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. In Québec, we are present in 16 administrative regions, and across the rest of the country, we are active in 5 other provinces. These establishments donate surplus food to nearly 200 community organizations!
Proven impact
Since 2003, our food recovery program has helped recover and redistribute more than 10 million meals to people struggling with food insecurity, which represents 3,000 tons of surplus food! This represents 7,737.88 tons of CO2eq, equivalent to driving 1,675 cars for 1 year!
United against food waste
For over 10 years, Première Moisson and La Tablée des Chefs have joined forces against food waste and food insecurity. In 2022 alone, more than 417,794 portions of bread and other bakery products were distributed through our food recovery program. Our teams have come together to offer you recipes that are as creative as they are tasty, allowing you to reuse your leftover bread and enjoy it to the last crumb!
