Food Recovery

In 2003, La Tablée des Chefs launched an innovative food recovery program. Acting as an intermediary between food surplus donors and community partners, the organisation supports recuperation of surpluses and ensures their distribution to people facing food insecurity.

What is it?

  • Recovering surplus food
  • A simple, safe process approved by MAPAQ
  • Direct involvement of kitchen staff and professional chefs
  • Collaboration with local food collection organisations

Objectives

  • Involve donor establishments in the fight against food insecurity
  •  Encourage the industry to adopt socially and environmentally responsible practices
  • Support community organisations with healthy and nutritious foods

A real impact

Every year, over 250 establishments in various sectors (health, sports and entertainment venues, hotels, caterers, bakeries, restaurants, businesses, etc.) take part in La Tablée des Chefs' Food Recovery program, making donations to over 200 community organizations across the country.
